Dr Nicola Holmes grew up in Coffs Harbour and studied medicine at Newcastle University.
She worked in the UK for 18 months in paediatrics and completed her diploma of child health in London.
She entered General Practice in 2000 and was awarded the Tony Bulingher medal for the highest examination mark in NSW fellowship exams, and has been working in Coffs Harbour ever since.
Her interests include women€™s health, adolescent health, mental health, dermatology and paediatrics,€¯. Nicola has worked in Headspace Coffs Harbour for€¯ 10 years previously.€¯ She and is passionate about improving the mental health of individuals as well as the whole community of Coffs Harbour.€¯ Dr Nicola regularly gives lectures for Black Dog institute.
She also has a strong interest in teaching and has worked in the past for 10 years training junior doctors on the general practice training program. She currently teaches with the Black Dog Institute that delivers mental health teaching to GPs and mental€¯health clinicians.
Dr Holmes is an independent visiting Doctor at Coffs Medical Centre.
Nicola has 3 adolescent aged children and loves creative writing, cheese and bread making and horseriding. She is a firm believer in balance in life and took a year off to go sailing with her young family in 2004.
