Coffs Medical Centre has been a training practice since it opened its doors in 1978.   The current Doctors working at the practice are continuing that service of education provided to both medical students and Doctors in training.   The Doctors who provide the teaching are passionate about sharing the challenging and interesting role that is a General Practitioner in a rural location.

The medical students spend between 4 to 6 weeks observing patient consultations and procedures.  Patient confidentiality is a priority and each patient is asked for permission for the student to observe when they have an appointment.   The students visit both medical centres from a number of universities.

Trainee Doctors are provided supervised training in a combination of hospital and community settings and the supervision is between three to four years in duration.   There are a number of long term Doctors who have been through the training program and remained with Coffs Medical Centre after training was complete.
